How to Annoy Me

This post I wrote here was me poking fun at the English language. Apparently because I think a ‘z’ looks better than an ‘s’, I am part of these Americans who “butchered” the English language — I have made up words, but I guarantee they are not in the dictionary. Well, I am sorry if for slang I’d rather say ‘cig’ than ‘fag’ for cigarette. I am sorry I don’t like the look of black jeans. I am sorry that I prefer chocolate ice cream over plain vanilla. I am sorry if I sexually prefer men over women.

Am I really sorry? No, because I believe people are allowed to feel, think, wear, say whatever the hell they want. If you have an issue with this, take it up with someone who can actually do something for you; you’re barking up the wrong tree here.

Oh, and I am a VERY PROUD AMERICAN. I’d rather live here and be part of this country than anywhere else, excluding Italy (pack my bags). So smack talking about where I come from, not smart.

Little Suggestion: If you disagree with someone on something, be diplomatic about it. Don’t throw rocks and share your article like you’re the almighty being of knowledge. I have no desire to read it now, whatsoever. But I’ll leave it up just incase someone else wants to learn from your holiness. Or wonders who the hell I am talking about. Good day.

Well, you did ask the question, “z” or “s” and you got an answer. Sorry if the truth pissed you off. Spanish is Spanish no matter what country its spoken in. Same with Italian and French. I wouldn’t be so critical if the changes were actually good. Sadly they’re not. American use of language is atrocious, and its getting worse. Even you (and you have great language skills) have to admit that.

It wasn’t a literal question for as you can see there isn’t a question mark in the title. The truth doesn’t piss me off because you aren’t speaking a truth, you’re speaking an opinion. I feel Tishmoon’s comment (below) to you has some excellent points. You should take a gander.

Actually, John, Spanish is NOT Spanish world-wide. Latin and South American Spanish vs. Spain Spanish are very different dialects, and if one were in Argentina or Madrid, you would speak differently. In Spain, you would lisp on certain letters, and Universities teach the languages as different classes. Mexican Spanish is full of words from indigenous tribes; cannot be called slang, but is very different to the tongue and ear than someone from Barcelona. This brings up the interesting fact that languages are for the most part, works in progress. Many factors influence a languages word choice. As much as I despise “slang”, every country falls prey to that evil, and many words are adopted because of their popularity. Who has the right to CHANGE a language ? I would say all the persons speaking it. =) I also have to say that the British use of language is getting lackadaisical as well. Education through a large part of the world has been dumbed down to an extent that there are very few places that can claim to have a population of grammatical perfectionists. Finland, of course, comes to mind. =) I admire your faith in sticking to your guns on this one, but you dropped the ball on this one. The written language Spanish is BASICALLY the same, but the spoken word can be impossible to understand from one country to another.

Thanks tishmoon, but you’re speaking about accents, inflections, and dialects. Spelling doesn’t change. Same with Portuguese. i’m in Brazil and as far as i understand Brazilians have a terrible time understanding Portuguese from Portugal. Anyway, i wasn’t really having a go at combat… just teasing. Seemed she got rubbed up the wrong way, though, and for that i duly apologise…. with an “s” :)

Hey, the post about cultures sounds like a minefield of fun ! =) =) Great idea !!!!!

Here, here. Well said. I’ll raise a glass to that, or even a cup of chocolate ice cream. People are way too sensitive these days, it doesn’t always have to fit into their view of the world. It doesn’t always have to be about them.
