Everyone is hurt by this, not in all the same ways, but how can your heart not take in the sadness of it all? No one is hurt as those families and I think it’s not only horrible (to say the least) of going through a loved ones death, but doing so when the entire world is watching and there is media around everywhere trying to get every little crumb of information before the other guy does. Then you have the hate groups whom want to make your life and grief more bare by protesting and picketing at vigils and funerals.
I don’t keep on the news. I can’t. I get the information that is pertinent and I go word of mouth from there. I personally find it disturbing and disgusting that the funeral information is being broadcasted.
“There were 2 today, Sally. And it’s scheduled for 3 more tomorrow.”
What gives us the entitlement to feel we need to know that personal information? Sick sad world.
Seeing other countries opinions on our gun laws irritate me. I don’t own a gun. I don’t like guns. I don’t like guns because to be in the same room with one scares me.
We do need stronger gun laws. A man said yesterday that it’s easier to obtain a gun than it is to be able to receive mental healthcare. That’s true. Very true. I don’t like reading from … wait for it … people in Pakistan that just got internet freedoms this year saying they wouldn’t want to live here because our society is not as peaceful as in Canada, UK, Australia. Are there not other ways to kill people? I’m pretty sure there are a LOT of ways. Just yesterday when I read that post from that Pakistani, there were 17 killed and 41 wounded from car bombings in Pakistan.
We should not be judged by a law and amendment we have that gives us the right to “bear arms” or protect ourselves. I don’t know what bubble some of these people are living in, but if a person wants a gun, there doesn’t have to be a law to allow it. They will get a gun by any means necessary. I could purchase anything I wanted to, legality is not an issue unless it’s a bust. A person with a means, would take that chance.
I guess it boils down to this. I know everyone has an opinion, but if you’ve never lived here — you need not judge. I don’t care if you’ve visited, you obviously felt safe enough to come here if you have.
Just yesterday when I saw a clip of people putting their 2 cents in on the amendment, it struck me that in other countries guns are outlawed. Does that mean in all your history gun crimes haven’t happened? Call me a skeptic, I find that a little hard to believe.
I don’t own a gun, I probably never will. But what you, whom snub your nose to our amendment, have yet to see, read, or hear is how guns have protected us. I was watching a show “Panic 911″ and the woman on the phone was able to reach her gun in time to shoot the intruder whom was coming after her. It wasn’t a kill shot, but it gave the police time to get there and arrest him. She’d likely had been a victim of a senseless crime had she not had a gun.
I’ll save the second topic for the next post. Until then.
